Misster Hornet

On Friday, Jacob did a fundraiser for his football team...the MISSter Hornet Pageant. Unfortunately, my camera ran out of batteries once we got there so I didn't get many of the other contestants. Also, the pictures are out of order.

Here is Burke...wondering what in the crap we've taken her to.
Jacob (in the red), thinking his girl walk is spot on.
Notice the man chick in the green...nice gut! He/She got the Susan Boyle award. The guy/girl that is 3rd from the left, he got best eyes. He had on a nice set of fake eyelashes. His make-up was professionally done (at a salon). He also gave Jacob a ride home after school and made us all late and me really mad. But that's another story for another day.

Here they all are. Jacob is in the middle. The guy/girl that is the 3rd from the left, in the zebra dress, he won. He was really funny. He had the best girl poses when he walked out. Like he really looked like a girl vs. all the other dudes doing stupid impressions. He also did a hilarious booty shake at the end of the runway that scored votes.

There goes Jacob...

This is not a good picture but they all came flooding out from the three doors upstairs when it started.
Burke, again wondering where she is.

Here is Burke scared to death when it all started up. Look at that face!! She is saying 'OMG! These drag queens are scary!"
At home posing before the pageant.

Is it funny to anyone else that his dress fits so well. We found this at a resale shop. And he's wearing one of my old bras. I wonder how bad that grossed him out!

My niece did his hair and make-up. He and one of the coaches looked like actual girls. I think b/c his hair looked so real and we didn't just slap a stupid wig on like most of them. We slicked his real hair back and clipped in a fake ponytail from Walgreens!

Meagan hard at work. He's a little tender headed...she didn't care.

Getting his make-up done.

This position looks painful...again, Meagan didn't care.

Another view...

Overall, it was a pretty funny deal. It was $5 a person to get in and there were lots of people there. The guy that won raised over $400. They all had purses and if you wanted to 'vote' for them then you put your donation in their purse. I gave him a few bucks for his awesome booty shake. While they were tallying the votes the guys did a few line dances and a soul train line. Poor Jacob...no rhythm.

Finally Walking

I got some video of Burke walking last night. Sorry it is a little 'Blair Witch Project.' She still doesn't walk full time but she is walking more and more. Also, I turned the camera sideways on one video so you'll have to tilt your head...sorry.

Easter Weekend

We had lots of fun over the Easter Weekend! It was good weather on Saturday so we took Burke to the park in our neighborhood. She loves to swing! We went to church, where we had a serious chocolate incident, went to Nanny's for lunch, and then visited with my college roomie Melissa, her sister, and kiddos all afternoon! Lots of fun!

At the neighborhood park.
Doesn't she look long?!

She loves to swing but never lets go of the 'death grip!'

Easter morning the Easter bunny was extra good to Burke! Here is her basket! The bunny got too much stuff and had to leave some out on the floor! Didn't the bunny do a really good job though??!! Next year the bunny will get a bow for her basket!
A close up...it's jammed packed in there!

Investigating the goods! She loves books!

Mom, why are you taking pictures this early in the morning??

Hey, that's a cool bunny! And he hops!

She liked the bunny. BTW, when is she going to GET HAIR??!!!!!!!!

More books and some coloring books!

Look mom, a cabbage patch kid/bunny!

After church with Dad. Mom forgot to get pictures beforehand. If you zoom in close you can probably see the chocolate stains on the front of her dress! After 10 M&Ms, that we thought she was eating, she decided to spit them all out. Apparently she was just 'savoring' them! Chocolate everywhere!! Oh yeah...I broke her of the passy but she was so horrible in church mom had an old 'baby sized' passy in her purse...anything to shut her up!

Wasn't she cute though??!!

After hunting eggs in the yard at my mom's she played with her eggs.

Real eggs don't bounce. She was confused.

Too cute!

She successfully transferred all eggs from the carton to her basket!

After lunch, my college roomie, Melissa, stopped by for the afternoon! We had fun with her girls, Brecken and Kayden, and her sister Terri! We took the girls for a trip to the park before it started to sprinkle. Burke was very interested in Brecken since she doesn't get to play with a lot of kids. She hugged her once, didn't let go, and they fell over! Brecken thought she was a little sketchy after that! And, Burke kept pulling up on her too so that was probably annoying!

Yay, swinging is fun!

Group shot!

Another one!

We had a great time seeing you girls! I wish we lived closer so our girls could play more! Or so that Kayden could play more with 'Sneaky Dan' or whatever she was calling him!

Yum!!!

So last night we ate Spaghetti. As all parents know, this is one of, if not the most, messy foods a kid can eat. But they all love it! Burke is no different. We stripped her down and let her have it! She would pack fists full of meat into her mouth; we were so cracked up! She didn't even eat her bread last night, and she usually loves bread, because she was too busy chowing down on the spaghetti. She will even eat the noodles. BUT, a thin spaghetti noodle is the only kind she'll eat. She doesn't like ravioli, macaroni, penne noodles, etc. She spits those out every time.

As you can see from her tray...pretty much all the food on her plate is now on the tray.
Look mommy, spaghetti! (And would you look at that hand!!)
A noodle! (I was afraid her face would be stained permanently!)

Picking a noodle off her belly! It's a great noodle catcher!

I mean, seriously! Does it get any worse? (Actually, I've seen it in kids' hair so yes it does!)

I love watching her eat! I think it's so cute!

Easter Activities!!

This weekend our neighborhood held their annual Easter Activities! It was our first year to participate in any event at the POA since we moved in October. They have lots of activities for the residents (adults and kids) throughout the year. For Easter they had a petting zoo, egg hunt, jelly bean jar guess (whatever you call it!), snacks, the Easter Bunny himself, and pictures with Joel's Photography. I was so excited and told Dan while we were loading Burke into the car that I was nervous! He died laughing, said I was crazy, and called Burke, Jon Benet! Egg hunts always make me nervous, what can I say?! Anyway, everthing started at 10:00 which is B's prime napping time. So I wondered how she would do but ended up doing pretty good. We left after 30 minutes but got everything in. Get ready for loads of pictures...

Here we are at the Egg Hunt. Burke is not so sure about all the people.

Daddy getting her set.
Burke wanting Daddy to hold her!

All the kiddos getting ready. Burke was in the 3 and under line. However, I was standing next to a grandma (?) that was YELLING at her kid to 'GET ALL THE EGGS! GET ALL OF THEM!!' Dan took the opposite approach and capped Burke off at about 10 eggs and said 'she's got enough.'

I think she's going to participate now folks!

Wait, she decided to hunt from Daddy's arms. Isn't her basket too cute?!

Now she's considering it again. Mommy had a quick practice session with some eggs at home before we left. I think she's remembering what she's supposed to do in this picture.

Not a good picture but she was pointing at an egg in this one. My zoom is SO slow on my camera and I couldn't pull it back in time to catch the point!

This is fun afterall!!

She loves to watch people. She liked that more than anything there!

Yay! Easter is fun!

Family shot!

Now we get to the petting zoo. Here is the pony. We didn't stay for the rides with him.

The pig...Jimmy Dean (I swear!).

Checking out the baby chick.

She liked it!!

The bunny...she was pregnant....and probably didn't appreciate being held this way.

Burke is not so sure of the man with the hat ("Uncle Harry") all up in her personal space.

A pigmie (sp?) goat. This was 5 weeks old and seriously 'cried' like a baby!! Pardon the scary lady (sorry if that's anyone's mom).

Ok, enough with the animals!! She had enough with the calf (who didn't make the whole picture).

THE Easter Bunny! Like she was going to let him hold her!

Eating some chocolate cake ball that she scored after her pictures with Joel.

Chocolate lips and one tear from her right eye. We went straight home and took a nap!

Well, we had SO much fun! I can't wait for next weekend when the Easter Bunny hides her some more eggs and brings her basket!
